Happiness is a Gift

“Happiness is not something ready made.  It comes from your own actions.” – Dalai Lama

 What is real happiness?

Ever felt like you were stuck in a rut and as hard as you tried your search for happiness kept failing?

Happiness is everything.  It is a daily reminder to be grateful for all that we have – however small!  It is a daily reminder that knows when we laugh, smile, share funny stories and socially connect with others – that we actually feel alive and thrive!

Happiness allows us to feel liberated and free.  It provides an internal resilience that secures our ability to let go off negativity, leaving time and room for peace in our day-to-day life.  It is an underlying attribute that helps to keep us strong, and connected to our core values.

Happiness provides patience, compassion, understanding, love, contentment, joy, fun, laughter, and in summary so many healthy and beneficial feelings that fulfil and nourish life.  It highlights the power of the heart, and allows that power to speak volumes of wisdom, love and an abundance of emotional intelligence and resilience.  Happiness can be seen, it can be felt, it can be heard, and everyone in our life can reap immense benefits from the happiness we are and can give!

“Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.” – Mahatma Gandhi

So yes of course happiness does takes work, and is a daily work in progress due to the things in life that reside out of our control.  However with the significant amount of control that we do have, we can quiet that negative mind chatter, take one day and task at a time, and remember to keep hold of those healthy thoughts and actions that keep life in harmony and balance, not only for ourselves, but also for others!

“If you want others to be happy, practice compassion.  If you want to be happy, practice compassion.” – Dalai Lama

So if you catch yourself searching outward for happiness, start to tune in daily to what you already have, and what you can actually do to improve your happiness.  Practice daily to be kind and compassionate to your own life as well as others.  The gift of a happy smile and beautiful spark will never be wasted – only added value to every new day, and everyone in your life!
